Google Earth is not loading

    I have many Google Earth files that have loaded correctly for years. The links all have similar coding:

    You can also see this map using Google Earth and take a virtual flight along our route.

    When “Google Earth is clicked the result is the raw kmz file

    I first noticed this today, but this could have been happening for a longer period.

    I disabled all my plugins, but this probem persisted.

    I rolled back to WordPress 6.0, but still the same.

    I would be gratefull for any help

    Links to actual files such as .kmz, .jpg, etc. do not involve WP at all. The behavior of fetching such files depends upon your specific browser and computer configuration. Apparently the association of .kmz files with Google Earth has become corrupted, either within your browser or your computer itself.

    Thanks for your helpful respose.

    My problem was caused by a recent change of servers from Apache to Litespeed.

    In my . htaccess file I forgot to change the following code

    AddType application/vnd.google-earth.kml+xml .kml
    AddType application/vnd.google-earth.kmz .kmz

    to

    AddType application/octet-stream .kml .kmz

    My Google Earth maps are now downloading perfectly.
